It’s all good for the Hood. In 2010, 23 year-old Ace Hood was feeling agony. He was on a career hiatus that lasted a year. With no records on radio, his bread and butter, money earned from concerts, started to dry up. He was going through relationship turmoil and most horrific, some of his friends were killed in the streets.

All the pain served as inspiration for his new LP, Blood, Sweat and Tears (due August 9). This Spring, Ace–the current cornerstone act on DJ Khaled’s We The Best Records–silenced all the people who said his career was over when he released one of the top anthems of 2011, “Hustle Hard.” The song, which finds Ace rapping urgently about having to overcome struggle has garnered a monumental response from both fans and artists. Lil Wayne and Rick Ross enjoyed the record so much, they asked to be on the remix.

With spins for his lead cuts in heavy rotation, Hood followed up with “Go And Get It,” where he once again rhymes about facing the most bleek circumstances such as immediate eviction.

“I wrote it on the road. I wrote the hook. Then it took me a few weeks to piece it together, the exact way I wanted it to be,” Ace said last week outside of his Miami condo. “What’s so funny, writing these records, I be looking for that chant. ‘What’s the key that’s gonna have them chanting in the clubs?’

“I put the ‘go and get it’ in,” he added. “I felt like a genius as soon as I created the record. ‘This is going to be another Hustle Hard. Something everybody can relate to. It’s living proof. I lived those circumstances. Having seven days to move out, having a cousin lose her mind.”

The Broward County native credits heavy prayer, getting back into church and a keen focus for coming out of his turmoil. As the accolades for his new music ventures continue to roll in, MTV Jams debuted “Go and Get It” on the channel last week.

“I wanted to really get the message through,” Ace, who says he’s honored by the Jams nod, explained of the clip. “I wanted it to be as real as possible. We took it to Deerfield Beach and shot it in the heart of my city. It represented my circumstances. It showed a young kid whose willing to do whatever it took in order to provide for his family. As opposed to taking the stupid way out, I chose the right way. As opposed to picking up artillery, I grabbed my CDs and walked into the store [to sell them.] As opposed to thinking about robbing the joint.”

As the release date for his third LP nears, Ace is back in heavy promo. He did 40 straight dates on the road before taking a two day break and today he’s back to jaunting different cities. Besides going to radio station and doing in-stores, Ace will be making surprise performance appearances on Lil’ Wayne’s “I Am Still Music” tour which is back up and running. To top it off, Ace already has his next video in the can. No struggling, he cuddling. “Body To Body” finds Ace and Chris Brown seducing women.

“Life for Ace Hood right now is phenomenal,” Ace, the new father of twin girls testified. “I’m definitely in a better position than, let’s say, a year ago. Life is wonderful. I wake up everyday and continue to do what I love. I see my fans every single day. I’m in a position now where I can provide for not just my little ones, but my entire family. Life is what I wanted it to be. I can’t complain at all. God has been good.”
